A Big Step Toward Sustainable Farming

We’ve got some VERY exciting news to share…

Treetop Acres has been awarded a $175,500 Climate Resilient Farming Grant from New York State 🎉

We’re honored to be one of three farms in eastern Niagara County selected for this funding — alongside Chaffee Farms in Barker and Mc-B’s Farm in Gasport. Together, we’re part of a $1.1 million investment in climate-smart farming right here in our community.

The improvements we make are expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by about 9 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent each year, while also making the farm more resilient to changing weather patterns.

What This Means for Our Farm

This grant is helping us take a big step forward in how we care for our trees and our land.

Here’s what we’re working on:

  • Building a pond to collect rainwater 🌧️

  • Installing a rainwater collection system on our barn

  • Using solar-powered irrigation to water our trees ☀️

In short: less hauling water, more working with nature — and a more sustainable future for the farm.

Why It Matters TO US

As a family-run farm, we’re always thinking about the long term — what we’re building today and what we’ll pass on tomorrow. Taking care of our land isn’t just part of the job, it’s part of who we are.

This project is about more than efficiency. It’s about making sure Treetop Acres stays healthy, productive, and beautiful for future generations — both in our family and yours.

We can’t emphasize enough that this funding is a huge help — and overall, it’s a really exciting step for us,

A Big Thank You

We’d also like to give a big thank you to the team at the Niagara County Soil & Water Conservation District for their support. Programs like this don’t happen without people who care deeply about local farms and the future of agriculture in our region.

And personally, I’d like to give a big shout out to my husband (and the Tree-E-O) Pat, for finding the grant and putting so much hard work and effort into the application. To say he is always finding ways to future-proof and improve the way we’re doing things would be an understatement.

And always, thank to you for following along and being part of the extended Treetop Acres family — we can’t wait to show you what’s next!
